Unbound

Through the crowd I move, dancing amongst the savvy, glistening eyes of the young.

Seeing the embers of long forgotten desires flickering to their death in the eyes of the old.

Like the assassins, I move without sound, I slip between the shadows. The chasms of the abyss that separate us.

Yet, as I meander, the bones start to creak, the hair thins, and hope turns to fear, as a life worth living is reduced to forlorn moments of weepy, muted grief.

As I move, and glide, and sing into the ears, I stir up emotions and dreams. Of the perfect pictures of the perfect life and then I move on.

They see me as unimportant. And I move on. Because I wait for no man. I only endure. And watch.

I have seen the dynasties, the wars, the anger, and the peace and the melancholy. And yet I remain untouched, the only one. As I am.

I move without reason, without purpose, I exist to exist. But that is my purpose. I am the envelop of life, open and never closed.

So why should you think of me and suffer? You are not bound by me. Why should you feel my cold hands closing around your neck, when I am everlasting and infinite?

I am all that you wish to have, so enjoy my company. Enjoy the glory that I bring and be patient. For I bring with me the answers to your afflictions of the mind. With me by your side, you will grow to be wise and understanding and repentant.

I perch on the highest peaks and look down on the world. Kings have knelt before me, conquerors have wished for me, but why?

For it’s when I’m forgotten, when I’m not a thorn in the ancient kings mantle, when I no longer cause man to fear his demise, that joy can ride on the shoulders of a boundless life, unsanctioned by time and uninterrupted by what life is expected to be. A life untainted by your duplicitous nature of being kind to seize power, of becoming corrupted absolutely.

But what of power? What of kingship? What of tyranny dressed as a just rule? They are all so inconsequential under my gaze. And they all come and go like the winds, echoing repeatedly throughout time. Will you never learn the impermanence of your humanly actions?

I’ve seen the rise and rule of Cleopatra, the dominion of Alexander, the brutality of Genghis Khan. And the peace of the Buddha.

I’ve sat in the great libraries with the academics and in the great halls of the tyrants and scoundrels. I’ve floated with the crows listening to the great speeches. And only one thing remains true, remains everlasting.

The want to be more. The need, the greed, the fascination to be more. The power.

And I am here to give you the chance to live your higher life. To be more. To be all you were meant to be.

Under my watch, you may chisel and carve yourself into a bust that reflects your soul. Outside of power. Absolute.

For I am time, and I am always by your side.

And in the fear of failing, in the rush to do more;

Stop.

Breathe.

Flow.

Knowing that I will give you all you need; I will soothe your burns, so vengeance is quelled.

I will teach you patience, and your wisdom will sit in my embrace, slowly unwinding and revealing itself to you as you create your tapestry. Your life should not be bound by realising me, only made eternal. I am endless and infinite. And you my child are too.

But know this. We are the everlasting autumn, the never-setting sun that illuminates all it touches. We hold power. Together. And together we will conquer, we will endure, we will reach.

You are not bound by me, but through me you create your destiny. And you must seek me out when the canyons are deep, when the aberrations become real.

Human life is impermanent. Life of the soul is boundless, is joy.

And I will teach you the difference.
