Welcome to Words & Worlds!

So welcome to my new blog and more importantly thank you for taking the time and checking it out!

I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for a long time but never quite decided on what it’d be about or what I’d like to talk about and share. But through lockdown I realised that I properly enjoyed writing. And not just any old writing. I really lost myself in the creative feeling when I wrote without worrying about what was going down on paper. Sounds strange right? It’s writing without trying to structure. Writing endlessly and in some ways writing, limitless. Just letting the pen flow. I guess you could call it conscious writing? or maybe free verse writing? or maybe even a bit more spiritual automatic writing? but whatever title it holds, it’s been an incredible way for me to recognise my own way of thinking - and by recognise I mean make sense of haha. And I’ve loved putting into words my own imagination!

So what’s the idea behind it all?

I want to really just share my processes, my inspiration, my creative journey and most importantly connect with other like-minded people who feel like my poetry connects with them! and I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts too!

The idea is to see where my creativity can take me and like the title of my blog, I want to share my words and my worlds and have a space where I feel comfortable to just write away and create cool stuff! and I might even try and throw in some graphics and artwork too (I’m teaching myself typography and graphic art design on the side!)

But so far, the poetry I’ve written has covered topics linked to existentialism, understanding oneself, seeing messages and signs in everyday things, and then just loads of random and thought-provoking ideas too haha

My inspiration

I guess a lot of my inspiration has come from what I’ve learnt over the years and what I’ve felt most aligned with. So things like Norse mythology, Egyptology, the concept of deity worship, fantasy worlds, the mundaneness of trivial pursuits and the never-ending chase for titles, status, and money. And then quite a few of my ideas come from one-off moments like if I’ve seen a little spider one too many times, if I’ve wondered how productive I can be over the next year, and even the odd piece based on a dream that I’ve tried to write down as soon as I’ve woken up! It’s quite mad but honestly I love the feeling of just choosing topics that appear to me in the most unusual ways!

Check out my poems!

So over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing my Poems with you guys and I’ll also be writing some blog posts about how I’ve come up with Words & Worlds! My next blog post will take a deeper look into what conscious/free writing means to me and how I crystallise my thoughts onto paper! Sign up on the Contact page and you’ll get a ping when there’s any new content on here - I’d love for you to stay connected!
